June 8: Summer Enjoyment - Reading

When you think of summer, what relaxing, leisurely activity comes to mind?  For me, it's reading solely for enjoyment.  I may include a book that requires more thought or challenges me.  But for the most part, it's easy reading or an indepth plot filled book.  Think cozy mysteries or for those of you who enjoy them romance books.

I encourage you to set aside time each day this summer to enjoy reading.  And for those of you with families, a parent who reads generally raises children who read, if not immediately, in the future.

So where to get books?  Libraries are wonderful places to explore.  And many local libraries have both internet downloadable books as well as physical copies.  If you live in New York State, you can use the New York City library internet service for both reading and audio.  And the service is free as are most all libraries.

There are many locations on the internet to download books for free or reduced prices.  Here are a few:

Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/books) has both free books including audio as well as low priced deals.

Project Gutenberg (https://www.gutenberg.org/) has totally free books to download.

Open Library (https://openlibrary.org/) has totally free books to read online.

Internet Archive (https://archive.org/) Note Open Library is part of Internet Archive.  Internet Archive has a ton of media to read, listen and watch online.

Many Books.Net (https://manybooks.net/) Free books to download.

LibiVox (https://librivox.org/) Free audio books.

Free E-Books.Net (https://librivox.org/) Free books to download.

And if you do an internet search, you will find many more sites.

If you want free e-books to keep, sign up with Freebooksy (https://www.freebooksy.com/).  You will get a daily list of books in the genres you select which you can purchase for free through Amazon.  There is no cost period.   I have found some really good authors using Freebooksy.

That's it for now.
Spend time reading today.
