September 26, 2022

I drove up to Massachusetts this morning and it was beautiful.  No, the trees have not turned with the exception of one every once in a while.  Actually, one was a combination of orange and peach...it was spectacular!

On the way home, the sky clouded up and I drove through many heavy showers.  We need the rain so I am happy, but it was a cold one...lows barely reached 60 degrees.

Still no movement on the house.  Today was a tentative closing, but we did not close.  I do hope that we close this week because I am not sure how soon I will be able to get the pods rescheduled.   Right now they are scheduled to be picked up on the 30th!

So today's focus is journaling and there is a new question to ponder this week along with a new thought for the day.  On the journal making front, I chose to make a small notebook that would fit in a journal pocket.  So remember the 4 page section we are working on, here is the page with the pocket and tag...

We will make the notebook for the right hand side.  First cover the page with decorative paper (digital scrapbook paper, decorative paper, magazine page or wrapping paper)...

Next cut a pocket out of card stock...

Cover the pocket with decorative paper using stick glue.  Glue to the page with thin stream of tacky glue around the edges on the two sides and bottom.  Cut and fold (on long side) a piece of card stock that will fit into the pocket.  Next cut several pages to include in the notebook.  Also cut a piece of decorative paper wider than the width of the pages and about half the length.  Fold the edges as shown to finish the top and the sides to the same width of the pages...

Staple the pages to the short piece...

Use a craft hammer to flatten the staple.  Next, cover the inside of the notebook with decorative paper.  Then staple the pages to the right hand side...

Again, flatten the staples with a craft hammer then glue down the flap to cover the staples...
Decorate the inside of the notebook...

Decorate the front of the note book...

And the back...

And this is what the notebook looks like in the pocket page of the journal...

Lots of pictures with this tutorial.  I hope you enjoy making a journal.  I have had so much fun that I continue to make journals.  They would be great gifts for folks who enjoy handmade gifts.

Be sure to check out the new question to ponder...

Talk with you tomorrow...
