Franklin Hotel in Deadwood

Just to let you know, I'm not in South Dakota anymore...I'm in Minnesota.   Visiting relatives and continuing to clean out my mother's home.   Mom was a packrat.   There's no way around that.   She kept everything.   And now it's up to her two children to sort through it all and decide what to do with it.

I have frequently muttered to myself that I'm not going to do this to my children.   But then I think...well, after all their shenanigans maybe it would serve them right.   BUT then I think - wow - this may be payback for my stunts while growing up.   Finally, I just get back to sorting!!!

At any rate, I will be at this until I leave next Monday.   And when I do, I will be driving straight back to the east coast with only a stop or two for sleep at some truck stops.

On to the Franklin Hotel in Deadwood.   It is a beautiful building...

Inside the ceilings are tin and the lights are lacy...

They allowed pictures except of the teller's window...yes it is a casino as well as a hotel.

The city does a re-enactment of western stories at different times throughout the town.   These are the characters taking part in front of the hotel...

The weather was a bit uncooperative as you can see.   We did get wet on more than one occasion!!!

I'll share more pictures from Deadwood next time.

Thanks for dropping in...

Enjoy your evening...
