MOBILE MOMENTS:
If you're in Mobile check out the Mardi Gras Museum on Government Street (close to the large fountain I talked about earlier).
A brief video about the history of Mardi Gras is a good beginning. Tours are also available at no extra cost (and the museum fee is very small). The pictures and scenes are great...
But the highlight of the museum are the costumes worn by past kings and queens. They are really spectacular works of art. For instance...
The decorations on the costumes are highly detailed. Check out this costume...
And this one...
CREATING:
I watched a video about painting with abandonment, not worrying about colors, strokes or anything else. I was so intrigued that I tried it with some acrylics. I just picked out tubes of color randomly and squirted globs of paint on the canvas. When the paint was dry, I applied a coat of Diamond Glaze. This is the result...
It was fun. I'm not sure when I last did something with such freedom.
For instance, my latest fabric picture (a work in progress)...
...was not completely planned but I did take time to work out the design. That's not a bad thing to do, but it does limit one. There are always judgements. Does this fabric go well with this one? Should I add more trees next to the houses? Etc.?
So the chance for creating without judgement was a treat. I would like to suggest that you take the time to create something with complete abandonment...freedom. It is not only eye-opening, but gives you a different perspective to creating.
Thanks for dropping in...
See you tomorrow...
By the way, I'm beginning to pack up the trailer...time to move on...
