Well, I see by the clock that I missed my midnight deadline...you know how that goes! You think you have all the time in the world to do something and then one thing after another steps in to take pieces of time and pretty soon...well, it's after midnight and the glass slipper is on the steps somewhere and you can't find it...or something to that effect!!!!
So, here is my first attempt at steampunk. I began with a dark beige colored tag...
And using gesso with a stencil and a distress ink stamp pad...
I achieved this look...
Next I glued on a strip of decorative paper and added more ink...
Strips of newsprint, a stamp and a couple tiles were added...
Before adding the lace I applied one coat of Diamond Glaze to brighten up the tag. Then, two layers of lace, glued at the top were added...
I finished the top of the lace with a strip of decorative ribbon which was glued on. I also applied glue to the edges of the ribbon to stop any fraying...
Then it was time to decorate with gears, a clock face, a key on a chain, a butterfly (Had to have a bit of color), a button and some sparkles...
All the items except the sparkles were added with brads which I opened and flattened in the back. To cover the brads up and give a bit more body, I glued another blank tag to the back and then finished the sides with the distress ink.
I'm not sure if this qualifies for steampunk-lace, but for a first try, it's not bad. What do you think?
Well, that's it for now...
Thanks for dropping by...
See you tomorrow...
