I hope all of you have recovered from losing an hour! It usually takes me about a week to get used to the new time. I wish they would settle on one time and leave it that way all year long. This springing ahead and falling back only seems to gum up the works...
There's a new journal prompt posted. And speaking of journals, I have found a great YouTube channel for Journal Pages. I've watched several of them so far, each one introducing new ideas. The Channel is called Mixed Media Art Journal Pages by Mixed Media Jenn.
One of the reasons I like the videos is because they go fast. There is no talking, only music. When supplies are introduced, they are shown and then most times there are also titles shown with information about the supplies (i.e. kind, color, etc.)
I encourage you to check these out. One technique that I forgot about is using a credit card to achieve straight lines with paint. I also like the use of thread and yarn, etc.
As a matter of fact, I was so enthused after watching them that I decided to do some backgrounds on four pages for journaling...
Next, I'll try spray ink to get some dimension...and maybe the credit card trick...and, of course, some thread and yarn and, maybe even fabric. Stay tuned for the next steps...
Strathmore Artist Paper is once again offering free online workshops. The first one began today. This workshop is Drawing with Earnest Ward. This first week is about line and shape. I found it refreshing to step back to the basics and just work on drawing.
The second workshop, Visual Journal Fodder with David Modler and Eric Scott, begins in May. And the third workshop, Watercolor Sketching and Journaling with Gay Kraeger, begins in September.
These workshops are free. All you have to do is register to gain
access to them. And best of all, they remain open for a long time.
Changing subjects, the weather out here is really wild. It was in the 50's a couple days ago and this evening it is snowing/sleeting and really, really windy. While out running a couple errands this weekend, I took this photo of a frozen rain storm on the other side of the valley. Watching the weather in the mountains is different...
Isn't that wild? And yes, it was frozen rain...little round pellets!
Well, that's all for today folks,
Thanks for dropping by,
See you tomorrow...
