Today is the last day of the changes for my blog. There was a lot more work involved than I thought there would be. And going forward, I can see that I will be spending more time on my blog. But you know what, I really am enjoying it. Probably everything doesn't interest everyone, but I do hope that you are finding some things that are helpful, of interest or enjoyable. Today is...
Exchange Parties: I know that most of you are familiar with exchanging items among friends. Things like clothes, toys, books, even Holiday Cookies! But my question is why stop there? Why not hold exchange parties for just about everything?
For instance, I bet all of you have craft items that you no longer care about doing. I know that I do. Have you ever thought about getting a group of crafting friends together for a craft exchange?
Anything from new and/or duplicate items to gentle used items to even works-in-progesss. Think about those blocks you won at the quilt guild but haven't put together, or that counted cross stitch picture that you began but really don't want to finish. Maybe you received an acrylic painting set but found that it wasn't your cup of tea. Or even left-over yarn, fabric, patterns, books, etc. Get the picture?
Gather a group of friends for a craft exchange party. It would be a time to share ideas, suggestions and best of all the craft items would get a new lease on life and it would not cost anything. Who knows, maybe you will get to try a new craft?
Now my question is why stop there? What about those kitchen items you no longer use? Or decorative items from pillows to knick-knacks? Even furniture? Gardening tools? Office items/supplies? The list is endless.
When you think about it, exchange parties are both frugal (no money involved) and contribute to simplifying your household by removing something that you longer want. Next time you find things you want to get rid of, think about exchange parties.
So how did I do with this week's goals? All in all, not too great...
1. Finish setting up the patio area - nope snow/rain
2. Begin working on fences - nope same reason as above
3. Lose one pound - yes
4. Exercise every weekday - only did three this week
5. Begin working on guest room - starting tomorrow
6. Complete one challenge zentangle each weekday - yes
7. Complete writing five units in book - nope
8. Begin revamping trailer - nope, too cold
9. Finish tag swap - begun but not finished
10. Have an adventure - yes
