A VISIT TO NEW HARMONY, INDIANA

This is a very nice small town...one that oil heiress, Jane Owen, generously gave much to.   That includes statues, buildings, gardens as well as saving historical buildings.

I only spent a couple hours here but it is really well worth spending several days exploring all that New Harmony has to offer.  Google New Harmony, Indiana and you will find all the possibilities there are to see

My main objective was to find 'The Roofless Church' but I also found a few other things which I will share tomorrow.

So, this is part of where 'The Roofless Church' is located...

And this is the other part (same side).  The church is hidden by the trees...

You can enter from the side...

Or, from the front...

The church is breathtaking from either view.   The side entry...

Or the front entry...

Under the dome of 'The Roofless Church' is bronze statue created by Jacques Lipchitz.   The inscription, in French, on the back translates:  "Jacob Lipchitz, Jew, faithful to the faith of his ancestors, has made this virgin for the good will of all mankind that the spirit might prevail'.   Here are pictures of the statue from each side...

Also in the courtyard is a baptismal font created by William Schickel.   The Inscription reads:  "In celebration of all grandparents for the great goodness that flows through and from them."

Another bronze statue,  Pieta, by Stephen de Staebler is also called Death and Resurrection...

A ceramic sculpture by Eva Sygulska which is enclosed in a wood and glass case can be see on the left side of this picture...(Unfortunately, the close-up pictures didn't turn out.)

Outside on the grounds there is another statue by Stephen de Staebler called the Angel of the Annunciation...

One inviting plaque is inside the side door...

But, for me 'The Roofless Church' made the biggest impression...

Thanks for visiting...
Can you believe it?   There was no rain for the New Harmony, Indiana adventure...
See you tomorrow...
