WALKING AROUND LINCOLN CENTER

As promised, here's a brief Lincoln Center tour.  The American Folk Art Museum is across the street from the Lincoln Center Complex...

If you look, you can see the Alice Tully Hall at the top of the diagram.   Here's what it looks like from across the street in front of the museum...
It's quite an impressive building...

Walking into the large open area where the fountain is located,  the building in front of you is the Metropolitan Opera House...
The building you see to the right of the Opera House is the David Geffen Hall which used to be the Philharmonic Hall, then named the Avery Fisher Hall and now renamed the David Geffen Hall

The fountain in the center of the area is quite dramatic.,,

Facing the front of the Opera House, to the left is the David H. Koch Theater...

Walking between the Opera House and the Geffen Hall, you come upon the terrace with an area for seating and enjoying the day, studying, eating lunch, etc.   This is what it looks like as you enter the area...

You are also facing the Juilliard School of Music...

Walking to the back of the area you pass the Opera House Store and in the back left corner you will find the New York Public Library of Music.

Looking back towards the Geffen Hall, this is what the green area looks like close-up.   And let me tell you, those chairs are very comfortable...

I love the art work in the reflecting pool next to this terrace. It's Henry Moore's sculpture called "Reclining Figure'...

Walking back out to the center area and looking across in front of the Opera House, this is what you see...

You will notice the umbrella covered tables and another area for sitting under the trees.

Whether you visit and attend one of the many offerings at Lincoln Center or simple walk around the area, it's a treat to enjoy and savor.

Today has been cold, damp and dark.   Not a day to go walking.   It took a while for me to warm up yesterday after walking from the subway home in the cold rain.

Tomorrow is another cloudy day but Friday promises the best day of the week.   Unfortunately, the weekend forecast is for rain!!!   Oh well, into each life a little rain must fall.

Thanks for stopping by...
Talk to you later...
