WHO ARE YOU...REALLY?

Today began with drizzle which continued most of the day, very dark and quite cold even though the temperatures were in the mid fifties.  I really could use one warm, sunny day, folks.  Tomorrow is the best bet for that...hope so.  I want to bar-b-que in the sunlight and sit outside...

So, I did do a bit of housecleaning in anticipation of folks coming for the weekend but their plans changed.  Oh well, the house is clean at least...and we are still going to bar-b-que.

Do you have things that are important to you like say, a statue of a horse?  Or something of that nature?  I was reading that a horse is a favorite of girls, and even of women.  I know I love horses and have always wanted one.  Came close in my junior year of high school.  Even had the horse picked out but then life intervened and the possibility was lost.

There are a lot of attributes given to horses like strength or freedom.  I wonder if the reason girls or women admire horses is because those attributes were not given to them, especially the baby boomers.

As girls we were always told to be what others wanted us to be...and that we were the weaker sex and could not attain our dreams.

For some, those limitations are still true.  Some haven't been able to break the boundaries put on them by family and society.  I think that's why many older folk are so upset with the millennials.

Millennials do not appear to be encumbered by the restrictions that older folks experienced and in reality, that is a good thing.  But older women may feel a little cheated and maybe even a bit jealous.  Older men think the behavior is wrong and may be angry.

What I think is that those of us who are baby boomers need to break the restraints and be ourselves.  We need to be who we want to be...not who others want us to be.

So next time you are upset with someone younger than you who express themselves, stop and ask yourself a question.  Are you upset with them and their freedom, or with yourself for not daring to reach out and take that freedom for yourself?

It's worth considering...

Hope you have a great weekend...
Thanks for dropping in...
See you on Monday...
