25 Days of Christmas Crafts - Day Twenty-Four - Salt Dough

It's Christmas Eve!  Hope all your holiday plans are coming together.
I have the pea soup on ready for this evening's meal.
And I have the dining room dressed and ready for the big meal.

Today's craft is great to keep kids busy...
Salt Dough.

Supplies needed are:  Salt, flour, bowl, spoon, measuring cups,
cookie sheet, cookie cutters.  Optional food color.

The recipe for salt dough that I like is:

2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup salt
1 cup cold water

Mix salt and flour together.
Slowly add water until dough is easy to handle.
Add food coloring during this time if desired.

Knead for about ten minutes and
let rest for about twenty minutes.

Either roll out the dough and use cookie cutters
to make the shapes.  OR, let folks create their
own designs.

If making ornaments, make a hole in the top
of the ornament to add a ribbon.

Bake in a preheated oven (250 degrees)
for about two hours.

Let cool completely.

That's it.  Kids love playing with salt dough.
It gives them something to enjoy.

Tomorrow, have popcorn and cranberries on hand.

Enjoy...
Talk with you tomorrow...
