August 5: Summer Enjoyment

Well, I survived yesterday's heat but I did wind up spending time in the living room where the ac unit is installed on this floor. BUT....that turned out to be a good thing because I saw my first football game of the preseason!  The Hall of Fame game with lots of interviews with great players and coaches.  Even though it was still hot outside, just watching football made me feel cooler...go figure!

Again, I will remind you that things are moving fast so posting on my blog may be sporadic at best in the next few weeks.

Today's focus is nature crafts and I though wind 'chimes' made out of twigs or small branches would be a nice item to add to your outdoor decorations.

There are many ways to make it but for the easiest one you will need string or twine, small eye hooks, something to cut the twigs to the right size (either a small saw or pruner).

Gather 10 twigs around 12 to 16 inches in length that are relatively straight.

Take two 12 inch twigs (1/2 in in diameter), cross them at the middle and secure with string or twine by going from corner to corner and then switching to the other corner to corner, tie with knot to secure.

Screw in the eye hooks to the top of each of the remaining 8 twigs and add string/twine through the eye hooks and tie to the two crossed 12 inch twigs, two twigs per each arm, varying the length.

You can also just use one straight twig to attach the other twigs again with eye hooks and string/twine at varying lengths.

Stay cool...

Talk with you on Monday...
