April 19, 2023 Journal Folder

Well, it did rain yesterday afternoon.  Today it is cool and cloudy.  Rain is not called for but neither was it forecasted for yesterday.

And looking out the window, the skies look like they could open up and pour down rain.

Today, I want to share with you how I make a folder out of scrapbook paper that is not very thick.  It's not a new technique, you can find this information on the web, but this is how I make the folder.

First, I use two pieces of scrapbook paper the same size.  Note you can make a folder out of any size paper.  Mine is 12 by 12 inches...

First, I glue the paper together using stickglue...

Next, I sew around the edge using a zigzag stitch.  I use a zigzag stitch because it is harder to tear apart than using a straight stitch...

After stitching, I make a fold for pockets on the inside after which I unfold and then fold in half as shown...

If you fold up the pocket and then fold in half, the pockets will not adjust well so I cut a small section from the middle of the pockets as shown...

Remove the small strips of paper cut out, then glue the sides of the pocket down using a tacky glue...

With the small sliver of paper cut out from the middle of the pockets, the folders will lay flat...

Next week, I will share how I complete the journal folders, adding pages, etc.

That's all for today...
Talk with you tomorrow...
