Today is warm but rain is forecast later this afternoon. It's the first day of vacation for my chef son, so he is already hiking at Harriman State Park which is just down the road a bit.
I'm going to pick up the groceries I need to make spinach pies, kibby, salad and I also decided to make some hot cross buns.
One year, I made over 300 hot cross buns - one for everyone at the egg hunt!
Are you enjoying any good books lately? I just finished reading "Deep Survival" by Laurence Gonzolas. It's full of stories of survival. But the main emphasis is how we get in trouble, how we can avoid getting into trouble and then how we can survive. A great read. Very hard to put down.
I finished another book this week also..."On the Brink of Everything: Grace, Gravity and Getting Old" by Parker Palmer. This is a collection of his writings about aging. Surprisingly, he likes being old. As he wrote, "Old is just another word for nothing left to lose, a time to take bigger risks on behalf of the common good." Another great thoughtful read.
I enjoy both listening and reading books. They open up the universe and allow your mind to soar outward or go deep within. I hope everyone will discover the pleasure of reading.
That's all for today...
Talk with you tomorrow...
