Speaking of weekend, have you ever wondered why we have a weekend. Religion observances are part of the reason. Christians usually held services on Sunday, a day of rest. The Jewish faith observed Saturday as their day of rest.
Factory owners in the early 1800's realized that it was more efficient for their workers to have two days off.
The Amalgamated Clothing Workers of American Union was the first union to ask and receive a five day week. Interestingly, we owe the unions for putting the five day week into effect.
Of course, we are now a 7/24 culture so many folks work on weekends as other folks use weekends to purchase groceries, clothing, project needs, etc. But for the most part, our time revolves around weekends.
So how do you use your weekend? A time to catch up on household needs, a time to spend with family, a time to refresh, a time to get a part-time or second job?
A time to unwind, to relax, to refresh is important whether it is on the weekend or some other day. Be sure to include some time for those things. And, if you're off this weekend, what better time is there?
