May 18, 2023 Book Recommendation: Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul

Bright, sunny and very cool  today.  Last night it got cold enough for the heat to come on but it did not freeze here.  All the flowers and herbs on the patio are just fine.

I am still working on fabric beads and necklace.  It's not to be worn, but more of an art piece which I want to get into the spring web show...hopefully I will finish it in time.

I'm reading John Phillip Newell's book Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul: Celtic Wisdom For Reawakening To What Our Souls Know and Healing The World. I find it enlightening and heartening

It's premise is that we know in our deepest being what is right even if it hasn't been taught. This is not a new idea. From Plato to Jung, they proclaimed that for us to recognize what is true, deep within our being, we already know that truth.

When we see something devastating, we understand that devastation and we want to do something about it. Too often, though, unless something devastating happens, we forget.

We forget that everyone and everything is sacred, deserving of respect and care. That includes what many people classify as 'the other' as well as nature and our Big Blue Marble, our earth.

And right now, our care for nature is not very good. We have used this 'Big Blue Marble' rather than cared for it and lived with respect for it.

I have often wondered how different our world would be if we respected and treated everyone and everything with care and love. Right now we seem to be at odds both with some nations and even with each other in our own nation.

Even in the 60's with the upheaval that came with protests, I never felt this  separation. I wonder if our nation will heal. Being the optimist, I think it will but perhaps not in my lifetime.

Talk with you tomorrow...
