May 3, 2023 May, Journal Cover & Collage

Did you know that May is likely named after the Roman goddess Maia who took care of plants and was known as the earth goddess.

One of the May Flowers is the Lily-of-the-Valley.  Those little white bell-shaped flowers that grow in shade and smell wonderful.

And May's birthstone is the emerald which is a rich green color.  Very appropriate for spring.

I saw a video about a tall journal and thought it would be fun to make one but to also combine collage with it.  Yesterday, I made the cover using an old file folder for strength and a digital print...

First, I folded the digitally printed page in half lengthwise...

Next I placed the folded file inside the folded digitally printed paper...

I then cut the file to fit the printed page...

Using a glue stick, I attached the file folder to the printed page.

Then the fun began as it was time to make a collage on the inside cover.  I used lots of paper scraps, inking around the edges and gluing down using a strong glue stick...

I left the middle area open and will add some ribbon or lace (for strength) when I add the pages to the journal.

Next, the pages.  I'll share those with you when I have them all finished.

Thanks for stopping by...

Talk with you tomorrow...
