I got a lot done yesterday organizing the boxes in my old bedroom. I hope to finish organizing this week. That will leave next week to get ready for my trip.
Along with work on the boxes, I did manage to make a new fabric drawing kit/container and I liked the way it turned out. I used off white canvas for the fabric and instead of heavy cardboard I used bubble lined mailers. There is a bit of crinkle noise, now much but the good news is that the kit stands up...
Aa you can see I also added covers on two of the pockets and secured with dots of velcro. The drawing pens on the left side are contained with fabric strips. The top one for the pens to hang on and bottom strip to keep them contained...
The middle pocket contains water color paints...
The the right pocket keeps drawing pencils as well as erasers and sharpener. The last two in the bottom pockets...
If you are considering making a fabric kit/container, first plan what type of pockets you want to add. Then make a rough drawing of what you wanted including the size.
Cut out the front and back pieces of fabric the same size, adding about an inch all around.
Next cut out all the pockets that are going on the inside, each larger by 1/2 inch all around. Finish the tops of pockets as well as three sides of the pocket covers if used by folding down the raw edge 1/2 inch and sewing either with a straight stitch or a zigzag stitch.
Turn the raw edges of the pockets and pocket covers and pin to the inside (front) piece of fabric only. Once everything is pinned in place, sew around the edges of each pocket.
When the inside (front) piece of fabric is complete, pin the front and back pieces of fabric right sides together. Sew up one side, across the top and down the remaining side. Turn.
If you are using an inside stiffener like the bubble lined mailer, cut the mailers to size taping together with packing tape if needed. Slip into the fabric kit/container from the open (bottom) side. Turn the raw edges inside, pin and sew to close.
It's really not hard to do. I have made several for different needs like embroidery, quilling, etc. You can make one for just about everything you want.
That's it for today...
Talk with you tomorrow...
