So, yesterday was an interesting day. I was locked out of my old bedroom!
I went down to work on organizing and repacking the boxes as well as take out the garbage, etc. The door from the downstairs basement hallway would not open. It wouldn't budge.
I called the landlord to see if he had his key to the outside door handy as mine was in my old bedroom (which has an outside door!). He came down with the key which would have opened the door BUT I had put on the inside slide which was an additional way to secure the door.
We checked all the windows to see if any were unlocked. I didn't think so and I was right. I had closed and locked all the windows.
In the end, the landlord forced the door open from the downstairs hallway. It turned out that the lever which lifts the bar to open the door had broken off. This was a really old door mechanism...a reproduction (or maybe not) from the 1700's.
There was actually very little damage and for the time being, to keep the door closed so the cats stay out, I will put a hook on it. Unfortunately, it completely threw my schedule off so I will probably have to work this weekend to finish organizing all the boxes!
One of the things I suggested folks do on weekends if find events to attend. I found several but two include a food truck celebration, and A Juneteenth Riverfront Festival. Have you found any celebrations that you can attend? If not, check out the events calendar for your area and enjoy getting out and about.
That's all for today...
Talk with you next week...
