I like to make weekends special and one way is to find local free festivals to attend...craft fairs, food truck get togethers, heritage celebrations, music bashes, carnivals, etc.
Most have food vendors available but you can also pack a simple picnic lunch to save money.
Check out your local festival/event calendars and enjoy a special event each of the thirteen weekends this summer.
I have another scrapbooking journal idea to share. This one is also very simple. It's a belly band. For those of you unfamiliar with journal belly bands here is a picture of a vertical belly band...
The belly band that I made is a horizontal one that wraps around to the back of the page. I began with a scrap piece of card stock paper that is the width of a page in a journal plus the wrap around piece. You can see that I have a creased bend on the right hand side. The long piece on the left side is a belly band. The small section on the right side is the wrap around part...
I decorated the base piece of scrap paper with strips of washi tape. I added a small pocket on both the belly band side and the wrap around side.
To add it to a journal, glue the left side edge of the belly band and the right side at the bend to the paper. That leaves the middle free to slip things like an envelope, a journal card, a tag, etc. under the belly band.
The wrap around part can be glued to the back side of the page, but instead, I made a notebook on the back side of the wrap around part shown below...
This gives you a pocket on one side of the wrap around and an area to journal on the back side of the wrap around.
Another easy and simple element for your journals.
This time instead of making strong coffee and spreading on the paper, I used a spray bottle to wet the paper with water and then sprinkled on instant coffee, stirring with my fingers to dissolve the coffee crystals. I liked the results using this method.
That's all for today...
Talk with you on Monday...
Enjoy your first weekend of summer...
