July 12, 2023 PAPER BEADS

Another hot day here and a rainy day in the Northeast.  Looks like Vermont really got a flood mess.

And the heat wave in the south is wild...especially the water temperature in south Florida where it is approaching 100 degrees!

Once again, global warming is a real thing folks, not some imaginary idea.  I think we are past fixing and going back to the way things were.  We are at a point where we need to learn to live with what we have and accommodate the changes.

As promised, here are a few more pictures from sight seeing trips...

I showed you the fabric beads I made, today I want to share the paper beads.  I purchased a kit to make the paper beads (It was so cheap that I couldn't pass it up!!!).  But you can make beads out of any type of paper.  All you really need is a glue stick, scissors, a dowel or embroidery needle and paper.  The first pictures are from the kit supplies...

I used the embroidery needle to start the bead to keep the hole small.  I also apply stick glue as I go.  It keeps the bead stable but you can even it out a bit when the glue still wet...

For this kit there were four different strips to make the beads.  Here are the finished beads.  I still need to apply some acrylic finisher and the bead caps.  It took several beads to get things even but the paper is quite thick.

But you can easily cut strips out of any type of paper including magazines as shown below...

And here is the bead with only one strip of paper...

Again, I need to apply an acrylic finisher and the bead caps.

Making beads, both fabric and paper, is really easy and fun.  I find that once I begin, I have a hard time stopping.  A great craft for kids to do and then make necklaces and bracelets out of them.

That's it for today...
Talk with you tomorrow...
