When I visited this area in past summers, the ground was mostly dry and brown. It is so unusual to see everything green and lush with one exception.
Mountain pine beetles are killing trees and there are large areas of trees dead...not all of the trees but enough to take notice. One of the reasons that trees are susceptible is because they are weak due to so many years of low precipitation.
The heavy winter snow as well as all the rain has eased the drought so much that all the rivers and creeks have water and the lakes and reservoirs are either full or over flowing. Remember the picture of the dam I posted a few days ago.
