And back home in New York, the rain was so heavy that there's flooding all over, even in Orange County where our home is located. Roads are closed or washed away.
If anyone ever doubted that global warming is real, all they have to do is watch the extreme weather that is happening all over. And not just here in the United States. Weather extremes are happening all over the world.
The above photo is of a dandelion gone to seed. I took it because I had never seen one this big. They are much smaller back east than out here in the west. Guess everything is bigger out here...the mountains, the sky, the trucks!
And speaking of the mountains, here are a couple more photos from the latest sight seeing trip...
I haven't been neglecting my crafting. I took enough supplies to make fabric collages, fabric and paper beads, tiny journals and felt pins. Here's the beginning of a felt pin...
It's about 2 1/2 inches long. The pin is not finished. I want to create a design to go on the background. I have drawn several ideas but haven't found anything that I really like yet.
To make these I only need felt, embroidery thread, regular sewing thread, embroidery needle and threader, regular needle and threader, scissors, pin back and paper and pen to draw a design on if needed. I put two pieces of felt together and using embroidery thread, all six strands, I hand stitch around the border and then go from there.
When done, I will trim both pieces of felt close to the stitches. I always add a piece of felt, usually black with the pin attachment already sewn on, to the back of the two pieces after they have been trimmed down to the right size using a regular needle and thread.
It's an easy craft to make and if you enjoy embroidery and creating your own designs, you should give it a try. Actually, try it even if you have never done any embroidery. It can be very relaxing.
There's a new question for the week and thought for the day posted. And as I have said before, if you read the blog on a smart phone, be sure to use the web version if you want to see the questions and thought for the day as they are located on the sidebar.
That's all for now...
Talk with you tomorrow...
