Then on Sunday, we went to Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic, Connecticut. The GPS said it was a two and a half hour drive but it turned into a three hour drive both ways!
We spent about three hours at the seaport and we walked between three and four miles throughout the exhibits. At first it was comfortable with a nice breeze, but the breeze eventually stopped and in the sun it got a lot hotter and hotter and I took time sitting in the shade to cool off.
All in all, though, it was a great day. Here are a few of the photos I took. First the map of the area and then some of the ships...
The last photo is of a fire boat. And speaking of fires, here's a picture of a very old fire truck (Note: Check out the bicycle and tricycle)...
After the visit to Mystic Seaport Museum, we had dinner at the S & P Oyster Restaurant where I finally got some fried oysters. I had fried oysters for an appetizer (A giant mound!) and an oyster po boy for dinner...
The food was great, the prices reasonable and the air conditioning wonderful!
