The sky started out just barely light but with each passing moment, it's getting brighter. Going to make some coffee and have my first cup on the patio if it doesn't rain.
Hurricane Idalia is still causing trouble in the Carolina's. It could have been worse, but with all the flooding, it's going to be an expensive one. And with the waters in the Gulf described as hot bathwater, we can expect more strong storms!
Today is the last day of August! I hope your summer was relaxed and enjoyable because we are now entering the fast slide into fall/winter holidays. You laugh but, at least for me, the days go by faster and faster.
I had an empty beverage can box to recycle...you know the tall boxes that contain 12 cans...and I thought that I could make some tucks for journals with it. So, taking one side, I cut several pieces and then curved their corners...
Next I freehand cut out the curve from the center on one side...
Finally, using decorative paper and a strong glue stick, I covered the tucks and inked the edges...
Easy peasy. It didn't take all that long so I decided to make some pockets. These can be made any size. First, cut the paper and score three sides. Note: You don't absolutely need something to make the fold scores but it sure does make straight folds easy...
Next cut the bottom corners...
Crease the score lines and then cut a piece of paper to be the back of the pocket...
Add a 'pull' and ink the top edge of the pocket, place glue on the folded sides...
Place the pocket back on the pocket front, and fold down the glued sides...
Finally, clip the corners if desired and ink, also if desired...
Again, I made several pockets using up large scraps of decorative paper...
I really need to finish the cover on my current journal...maybe today.
Enjoy this last day of August...
Talk with you later...
