Today's plans include hosting a zoom chat and working in my studio. The house is clean, decorated for fall, the pets are taken care of and there are left-overs for supper. A whole day in my studio. I need to have more of these!
I have a good start on holiday gifts that I am making. My aim is to have them all completed and ready to mail by the beginning of December. That gives me two plus months.
So, today I wanted to share an envelope idea that I first saw on 'Scrapbooking With Me', my favorite YouTube journal making channel. As normal, I did change things a bit.
Supplies needed are envelopes (either new or used, either legal or smaller, but they must all be the same size - I used new envelopes), scissors, decorative journal paper (I print them on my printer), tacky glue, stick glue and sewing machine (optional).
The first thing I do is to cut off both ends of the envelopes making sure that they are equal in length. That sounds a bit odd, but it is the best way to make sure the envelopes are the same length. It also makes it easy to trim the opening from straight across to an curve as shown...
It is also easier to slip in the decorative paper you are using to cover the front of the envelope and trace the opening...
Now is the time to close the envelops by applying a small line of tacky glue to the edges and pressing down. This is also the time to sew around the edge of the envelopes and down the closed edges of the two inner envelopes if desired.
There are side tucks on the inside, you can add pockets to the outside if desired. These are what I added...
Finally, I added ephemera to the journal cards and to each pocket. I choose to use only journal cards because I wanted the envelopes to fold nicely...
