September 6, 2023 Journaling Cards

Obviously, the weather didn't get the message that fall has begun!  It's hot...low 90's...and it's forecast to be that high the entire week!  At least it's sunny and no rain.

I use Elmer's extra strength Craft Bond stick glue and let me tell you, this is hard to find lately...even on Amazon.  I may have find another stick glue if this keeps up because I mainly use stick glue for most of my journals.

College football has been interesting.  Two of my favorite teams won this week.  The Ute's from Utah are a good team but I was surprised that they won so easily against Florida.  The other team, the Minnesota Gophers also won...against Nebraska...which was a surprise!  But then Duke soundly defeated the Clemson Tigers.  And the NFL season begins Thursday.  As a lover of football, I am beyond happy!

One of the things I enjoy doing to relax is doodling..here's another one...

So, the last thing I needed to do to finish my current journal is add ribbon, lace or yarn to some of the journal cards.  To do that I first like to make a hole with a hole puncher and then use a grommet to secure the hole.  These are the tools I use...

A hole puncher, a hammer, a tiny anvil, a grommet setter and grommets.  Here's a picture of the working end of the grommet setter...

Here are the grommet pieces...

After the hole is punched, place a large grommet piece so it is on the front of the paper.  Turn it over and place the small grommet piece on the back of the paper over the large grommet piece that is sticking out.  Using the grommet setter, place on the grommet and hit with a hammer to set.  You do not need the anvil as any sturdy surface will work.

Here is the front of a set grommet...

And here is the back...

Here are some of the journal cards with grommets...

And finally, here are some cards with ribbon, lace and yarn attached through the grommet hole...

And that finishes my journal.  As I like to work on at least one journal that means I will begin another...probably tomorrow.

That's it for today...
Talk with you tomorrow...
