The color wasn't very good. The trees that turned to yellow had already turned and shed their leaves. The trees that turn to orange and red had just begun. The color on the mountains in a distance looked promising.
It's like that around here. The trees that have turned had already lost their leaves but the majority of trees have yet to turn. With all the lush green, I was hoping for a spectacularly colorful fall, but so far not so much.
When I got to the museum, I first saw the statue of Lincoln right outside the museum. It's quite large and distinct...
The Dear Jane Quilt was next...
If you're not familiar with this quilt it was made by Jane Stickle in 1863. She had embroidered the words 'In War Time 1863. It is comprised of 169 five inch blocks, every block was different. And it has 5,602 pieces of fabric distributed among the 225 patterns. Take a look at some of these blocks...

Idyllic reminders of times past when things were less complicated. There's a lot more to see in Vermont, but I only wanted to visit for the day, the museum was first on my list. One thing I noticed, as I have every place I have gone back to visit is the increase in housing. I remember when Arlington, Vermont was a small village. It still is but much, much larger.
Well, along with cooler temperature comes more rain. It was forecasted to begin this evening, but it has already rained here. And tomorrow there are flood warning again. Will my yard every dry out?
