Remember, it's a bit harder than just moving because everything that comes into the house needs to be thoroughly cleaned of the smoke and soot!
And this past weekend we also moved Duchess from Cornwall to her new place. She hasn't been moved for a few years so I was a bit concerned, but everything went fine. She connected to the truck so all the lights and her brakes worked.
That's a storage trailer next to Duchess and it is crammed full of 'stuff' in boxes that needs to be opened and cleaned before coming in. It's a 20 foot container and totally full. By the way, Duchess is also full of the stuff that needs to come in. This is going to take a long time folks!
On the positive note, all the big furniture is cleaned and in place in the house. It's now the small stuff that we need to deal with!
And I have my bedroom/studio set up with things I brought back with me. There's practically nothing in the trailer that goes in my studio as most was too damaged to save.
The trees are turning now and they are very colorful...yellows, oranges and reds. The area here is beautiful and I love to just take a drive through the countryside. It's a lot less built up than in our previous area.
I plan on taking time to drive up to Vermont this week to see the 'Dear Jane Quilt' and the Grandma Moses' Exhibit in Bennington. I hope to be able to drive up to Simon Pierce's Restaurant for some of their wonderful fall soups.
Can you believe that Halloween is almost upon us! My hope is that we will have the majority of the 'stuff' in the container done by Thanksgiving. At least enough to have things in place for a nice Thanksgiving Day meal with family and friends.
Well, back to work...
Talk with you tomorrow...
