I managed to finish the guest room completely yesterday, do two loads of laundry, finish up my Christmas shopping and continue decorating the tree.
Today, I would like to finish decorating the tree, wrap presents, make dinner and rearrange my studio. I also have two zoom meetings to attend.
I worked on a two page spread for the current junk journal...
These pockets have notepads...a large one and a tiny one...
So, I was thinking about past Holidays. When women's magazines were popular, you could trace the economy by what they focused on. For instance, if the economy was not great and folks did not have a lot of money to spend on holidays, the focus for the magazines was how to make inexpensive decorations and gifts. If things were better and folks had money, they would share lists of gifts and decorations to purchase.
Those magazines are mostly gone now. There are still a few around that focus on crafts for the holidays but most of them are not responsive to the current economy.
I'm not sure how the internet will respond to our economic situation. That will be an interesting situation to watch. There's just about everything available from where to purchase expensive items to how to make inexpensive things.
For instance, remember making paper sculpture or paper trees out of magazines or paperbacks...
I made this last night from two Reader's Digest Magazines. It took three folds per page. Top right corner to the center, again fold outer part to the center, finally fold the bottom up. I usually use a bit of stick glue to make sure the bottom fold will stay. Check out these photos...
