I actually picked up some large hostas to plant in the front of the house. And there are several large (and I do mean large) ceramic pots around the yard that I need to fill with annuals.
I did manage to get the second set of containers completely put together...AND, I cleaned out the back garden area and put down landscape fabric on Friday.
Because it rained so much on Saturday and the ground was extremely wet on Sunday, I spent time working on my junk journal cards. I have one ready to send to a blogger friend. It has quotes and poems mostly about spring. This is the cover...
And here is the the first set of pages. The first picture with the cards in the pockets and the second showing what's on back of the cards...
The second set of pages has a clear pocket on the right hand side...
The next set has a double pocket on the right hand side with a heart covered with plastic and filled with sequins and a tag that has a long poem on the backside...
This set has a pocket on the left side with an envelope that contains another longer spring poem.
There are a few more pages which I will share with you later. Altogether, there is a cover plus three inside pieces of paper which make fourteen pages including the inside front and back cover.
All of the pages are doubled. In other words, two pages glued together and then stitched around the outside. For one set, I used a brown paper grocery bag and a digitally printed copy paper. Another set was two pieces of purchased scrapbook paper. The third set was two sheets of brown paper that is used to stuff shipping boxes (i.e. from Amazon, etc.). I ironed the grocery bag and the brown paper before cutting them to the size I wanted for the card.
It's been enjoyable putting this card together...maybe because I am making it for a friend whom I know will enjoy receiving it.
An interesting thought. I've always had more fun during the holidays purchasing and putting together gifts for others then receiving. Don't get me wrong, it's fun to get things but in my mind, it's even more fun giving them. And even better is being able to give something that you know the person receiving it will really like and/or need.
So how about you? Which do you enjoy more...giving or receiving? Some folks enjoy the holidays by getting together to celebrate without gifts. That does eliminate the stress of gift-giving (i.e. money, time, finding the right gift, etc). I think, though, I would miss the enjoyment I get with the act of gift-giving.
When I was running around the country with Duchess, I stayed with a family over the holidays and what was very nice about their gift giving was that it could not be something brand new and, if possible, it was a gift from something that was theirs. I remember receiving a large, old magazine about the history of places to see in New York City. It was one of my cherished gifts.
That's all for today...
Have an amazing day and do something you enjoy...
