Again the photo on the side is from this year, an area about 15 minutes from here.
There is no rain today but it is quite cloudy and not too warm. I was going to work outside but decided to wait until tomorrow...a bit too wet still.
And speaking of rain, boy did my bones tell me that the weather was not conducive to do much of anything...like moving...at all! And the rain interfered with both my phone and computer.
I did manage to create, from scratch, dinner. Beef stew, focaccia (a first for me), brownies and a fresh salad. Check out these pictures...
And I found another Christmas Ornament to try. It's a six pointed star made out of six fabric pieces each folded several times. I plan to try making it this weekend.
And have you remembered what today it? Halloween...a time for young children to enjoy going to houses, yelling trick or treat! And we adults give them treats, of course. Candy, especially chocolate candy, was very expensive this year.
I like to watch Halloween movies around this time...Hocus Pocus (1 & 2) and Charlie Brown's 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.' It used to be on tv this time of year but I haven't seen it. Maybe all those holiday specials that were shown when my children were young are out of favor now...but they sure were good for their time.
We get that hour back this weekend as we go back to standard time. It will be a treat to have an extra hour to sleep in.
Do you have any special plans for the weekend? I want to stop at a farmer's stand and pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables. I've noticed that there is less 'pick-your-own' options this fall around here. And those that are around are more expensive and have more stringent rules about picking. Guess everybody's pocket book is hurting!
There's plenty to do that doesn't cost much of anything like a fall hike, time at the park, a walk around the block picking up fall leaves, making simple fall crafts with children, reading a book, enjoying football either in person or watching on tv, enjoying an adult craft, visiting a library...you know, I could go on indefinitely. But, I bet you can find something fun to do in your neighborhood. Even raking leaves and jumping into a pile (I still do that!) is fun.
Today is the last day of October...next up is November and Thanksgiving! That slide to the fall and winter holidays has begun and we are sliding faster...
That's all for this week. Be safe, find something enjoyable to do and take care of yourself...
Talk with you on Monday...
