Very cool this morning - 35! But going to a high in the mid 50's. No rain but it is cloudy out.

Tomorrow is the final day for the online quilt show at my quilt guild which I have been in charge of.  Everyone who registered is bringing in their quilts to be hung.  Members will vote on their favorite and I will be taking tons of photos to edit and upload to our new website.  Going to be a very, very busy day...

Yesterday I talked about making a fabric ornament.  You can make the same thing with paper using four single strips of paper around an inch wide and 16 inches long.

So for the fabric (4" x 16").  Fold in half lengthwise and iron.  Then unfold and fold each edge to the center again lengthwise and iron.  The fold in half so there are no raw edges...

Fold in half lengthwise and and place the folds one each way (Red strip on left, fold at top.  Red strip on right, fold at bottom.  Green strip on top, fold on right.  Green strip on bottom, fold on left) as shown and weave...
Now, pull tight...
Turn over and fold down one fabric strip to bottom on each side, going clockwise around.  Secure the last folded strip underneath the first folded down strip and pull so strips are secure.  Note, the bottom red strip is through the green strip.  Once pulled through there will be two strips on each side...
Next, take the top two strips and fold as shown...
Flip the entire piece over and fold down one side as shown...
Fold the right hand green strip to the left as shown...
Tuck the green strip under the red strip that it is laying on top of...
Cut off any part of the green strip that is showing below the red strip.  Repeat the same folds for the left side this time tucking the green strip under the green strip.  Again cut any part of the strip that is showing below the tuck...

Repeat the same procedure for the remaining three sides.  And this is what it will look like...

It may seem hard to do but once you understand the folds, it's easy.  For help online, google Scandinavian Folded Fabric Star on YouTube and you will find lots of videos with instructions.   It's really a beautiful ornament for very little cost.  And you don't have to stick to the normal red and green colors, try different color combinations.  No fabric, try folding it with paper.

Well, today is the last weekday of the first week in November.  It's going fast!!!  Thanksgiving is only three weeks minus one day away.  To make it easier on your budget, pick up a few things this week for the holiday meal.  And, as I said before, check out the house brands to cut the cost.

It's going to be a busy weekend for me, how about you?  Is raking leaves in your plans?  All the piles that folks raked around here were blown away with the high winds this week.  Most are going to have to rerake their yards!  And if you are raking leaves, enjoy a jump or two into the pile...it's fun even at my age!

Have a great weekend...talk with you on Monday...
