I Made It

Yes, I did make it but it wasn't a walk in the park.   I took pictures on most of the trail but not all so that you could take the hike with me.

It begins very slowly, although in the background you can see the rock...

It continues at a nice slow pace over a little bridge...

Then you begin to see a bit of a incline but still not too bad...

The first inkling of things to come is the switch-back.  See the folks on the top part of the switch-back...

Over the switch-back and down again to an even patch, but the rock looms in the background...

Up over the next ridge and the path winds around up and down to the rock (yes, that is a single rock!)...

After a few more easy parts of the path,  you're arrive at the rock!   See the tiny people on the rock?   That thing is big and steep!!!

Up, up the rock...

Looking back from halfway on the rock...

Now, once you reach the top of the rock, there is still a quarter of the way to go...up and down...sand and rocks until you reach the ridge.   On to the ridge and around the corner (there's a lot more to the ridge from the corner on the picture!)  And although the picture doesn't show it, there's a pretty steep drop from the ridge...straight down!!!

In the end, this is what you see and it is spectacular...

If you ever have the opportunity to make the hike to Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, I hope you take it.   But go early in the morning and bring lots of water to drink.   And a walking stick is really useful.

Tomorrow I will be hiking to Landscape Arch in Arches and then driving to Canyonlands National Park.   Then Sunday, I will be off to Park City for a month.

Thanks for visiting...

Have a great weekend...
