The All American Highway

This is a beautiful drive; however, if you are someone who doesn't care for heights, remember you can't drive it with your eyes closed!!!

You start in the valley and the road switchbacks all the way to the top.   There are places to stop on the way, places where you can turn around.   And believe me, I was tempted but I decided to keep on going.

This is a picture from the bottom.   Doesn't look too bad...

Pictures from one of the stops on the way up...

See that road up there...

Looking down, looking up and still more road...

More road but close to the top...

And here's the view.   See all that snow?   I had to put a lightweight jacket on.

It's a drive to experience at least once.   The road is closed most of the year.  Summer is the only time the road is open so keep that in mind if you are planning to visit.

This weekend I explored the Rapid City area - it was hot, but it was a lot of fun.    Check out those pictures over the next couple of days.

Thanks for spending some time here...

Enjoy your evening...
