Bookmaking Revisited Part Two

It's a cloudy, rainy day outside, but in the mid 40's so the snow is actually melting.   I can just barely see some of the lawn around the edges.   Not in the center and definitely not by the piles and piles of snow.   They will take some awesome temperatures to melt.

Well, as promised, here is part two of bookmaking.   This is where we left off from the first part...

The covers are completed with the exception of decoration on the front cover.   And they are attached to the accordion folded spine.

The next part is easy.   It's just picking out paper to put inside and attaching to the spine with permanent double sided tape.   You can choose anything you want from scrapbook paper to regular bond, etc.   You can also vary the size.   So, for my first page I took a letter size piece of handmade paper, folded it in half, creasing it with a bone folder and placed the tape on both sides of the fold.

Then I attached it to the first complete (valley) fold of the spine...

This is great paper but not easy to write on so I took a yellow piece of bond, folded it in half, creased it with the bone folder, added the tape and placed it on the inside of the green handmade paper...

You do not have to have paper big enough to fold, you can simply use two sheets of  paper and place the tape on the decorative edge...

I took a similar size piece of paper, added the tape to the opposite edge and placed them both in the same (valley) fold of the spine.  One piece attached on one side, the second piece on the other side...

You can add other things like paper bags, magazine covers (Magazine pages may be too lightweight and easily torn.)  I took a white decorative paper bag and left two sides open and two sides closed so the bottom and inside sides were closed.  I attached it with tape in one of the valley folds of the spine...

You can add envelopes.   I added one in front and one in the back...

So this is how my book looks so far...

For now use bull clips to help keep the book flat...

Next time, we will complete the book by covering the spine and decorating the front cover.

Thanks for visiting...

Enjoy yourself...
