Today was a busy one.
First: Running around doing tons of errands including picking up grandkids from school.
Second: Celebrating a grandchild's birthday...always fun. Their favorite meal is Chinese so we went to Panda Express and bought all their favorites entrees.
Third: Watching two March Madness Games...Go Michigan; and,
Fourth: Working on my latest swap - Post Card Mail Art
The theme is spring and after several tries I came up with a design I liked. First, I thought I would paint it but after several miserable attempts (And believe me, they were so bad I refused to photograph them to share with you.) I discarded that idea.
Then I decided to use fabric. So I cut out the shapes and glue them onto the handmade paper. Not good! The fabric frayed and the paper really bubbled completely out of shape with the liquid glue. And, unfortunately, never regained it's shape when dry...I even tried a warm iron. No go.
I did glue the cut out fabric pieces on a piece of cardstock and this is what it looks like...
Not too bad but when you look closely, the fabric is frayed at the edges.
So now I am going to use an iron on adhesive applied first to the fabrics I used above, then cut out and applied to a piece of canvas which I will then apply to a thick piece of cardstock. Do you think it will work? I sure hope so....
One other element that I am going to add is the word Spring on the left side of the postcard. I hope/have to finish this postcard this weekend. I'll be sure to take photos (if it works out, that is!!!)
Also, I am working on finishing the houses on my fabric challenge art picture...adding windows and doors, etc.
So it's going to be a wonderful weekend for me...working on my projects and enjoying the PBS Saturday line-up of craft, cooking, fix-it, gardening shows. What are your plans for this weekend? I hope they include something that you want and enjoy doing...if not, be sure to add them to your schedule!!!
Thanks for checking things out here at AB's...
See you on Monday...
