AN ORIGAMI GEISHA...(with glue)

Do I dare hope that spring is truly here...another beautiful day...it even made it up to 65 degrees!!!

Before I begin the tutorial on making an origami geisha, I want to explain that I used different lighting and so things have a more yellowish tinge.   Live and learn.   I will use another light next time.

Also, I did use glue on this particular origami project because so many separate pieces of decorative paper were used.  So, without further ado, here is this week's craft tutorial...

Supplies:  Four types of paper, cardboard, white cardstock, glue, ruler and scissors...

Cur a strip of cardboard about 5" by 1/2" and two pieces of paper 2" by 2"...

Fold both pieces in half to make a triangle and place on one another.   Place the cardboard strip in the middle and then fold the first triangle as shown.   Use glue on the last fold to hold it...

Fold the second piece as shown and secure with glue...

Fold and secure with glue the edges of two sides of a 5" by 5" square of the main piece of paper...

Glue a 1 1/2" by 2 1/2" inch piece of decorative paper on the inside of the main piece of paper as shown.   Trim the bottom to make it even.   Fold the paper in thirds with the other folded side at the top...

Place the previous folded piece on the middle of the middle third with the top sticking up a bit.   Secure with glue.  First fold the plain (no fold on edge)  in line with the previously folded piece.  Fold the side in.  Take the excess and fold toward the top.  Secure with glue...

Repeat on other side.  Fold up the bottom as shown and secure with glue...

Cut a piece of the decorative paper 2" by 6" and fold both long sides to the back and glue making sure the the flaps overlap.   Glue the middle to the middle front and bring to the back folding as shown and securing with glue...

Repeat with other side securing with glue...

Cut a 7/8" in diameter circle.   Cut another piece of decorative paper twice as large as the head.   Fold in half and place behind the circle and trim...

Open up the decorative piece and cut out area for the face...

Glue another strip of paper to the front of the cardboard strip and trim...

Push the cardboard strip down and glue on head...

Finally, glue the back of the decorative 'hair' to the back of the head (white circle) and the front to the front of the head.  Fussy cut some flowers and small strips of paper and attach with glue.   And your geisha is done...

And here's what I have added to my journal page...

ZENTANGLE CHALLENGE:  DAY EIGHT
