This is what Duchess looked like at the
last campsite. The rest of the stuff on the axle eventually
came off and was completely replaced. The repair person was waiting
for the electricity so he could use the air compressor to safely
remove it and not damage the axle. By the way, the white truck in
the background is part of the group trying to figure out the problem
with the electricity at the campsite...
It took the electric folks two days to trace the problem but they finally did and corrected it. We all thought that my converter was fried, but luckily, it wasn't and it works perfectly.
So after repairing the bad wheel, we checked the rest of the tires. The bearings put on the back tires, both
sides, on the new axle, were probably the cheapest ones the RV person had ever
seen. And did not have enough, if any, grease. As a matter of fact, the bearing
on the opposite side had so little that when I rubbed my
finger across it there was no grease on my finger!!!
The front two tires had excellent
quality bearings and the right amount of grease. They probably were
not checked by the company that replaced the back axle which meant
that they were same two put on about 5,000 miles ago! I did have
both replaced though.
I managed to take a few pictures after
Duchess was repaired. A few flowers early in the day...
And the river...
And I am now at a campsite at Natural
Bridge, Virginia. Duchess and Lady J traveled just fine.
Tomorrow, Asheville, North Carolina for several days. I've never
been to Asheville and am looking forward to seeing lots of things
including the big estate. I promise to share lots of pictures...
There's a new weekly journal prompt posted. Maybe now that the wheel saga is over, I can work on some journal pages!
Thanks for following the wheel bearing saga...
Talk to you tomorrow...
