This is the smallest in some ways of
the three areas (Colonial Williamsburg is the biggest and the
Jamestown Settlement is in the middle.) It also has more shops than
anything else. And there's a lot of construction so finding the
center can be a bit tricky. However, it is right on the water and
the stroll down the main street is very nice.
I did stop by Colonial Williamsburg
again, this time to explore the museums. It's interesting in that
you enter the museums through the mental hospital which had a great
exhibit. Then you descend a couple floors either by an elevator or
stairs to a museum shop and finally into the museum to see the
different areas like pottery, silver, armaments, statues, etc.
Quite interesting but not having natural light anywhere was a bit
unsettling.
One gem that I fell in love with (and
hope everyone who visits the area will take the time to use) was the
Colonial Parkway which goes from the Jamestown Settlement, through
Williamsburg and on to the Yorktown Victory Center. Maybe 25 miles
or so. But a good deal of the road is right on the water and the
rest travels through a beautiful forested area. And, it's free...
Well, they're celebrating Halloween for
kids again this week at the campsite. Lots of families came in this
afternoon. And I picked up more candy for Saturday night's trick or
treating. I will be leaving here on Monday and heading up to
Maryland for a few days.
Hope you have a great weekend...
Thanks for dropping in...
