There's a very large visitor center
with a video on Jamestown shown every half hour and exhibition
galleries about the land and the clash between the cultures plus much
more. If you want, there is also a 90 minute guided tour of the settlement available.
I walked to the James Fort first. The
sun was quite bright so some of the pictures are not the best.
First, the entrance...
There were several buildings and
gardens...
Some of the interiors were quite
elegant...
Next the ships. There were three on
the wharf...
Finally, the Powhatan Indian Village...
Walking was very easy and handicapped
accessible. All throughout the area there were folks dressed up in
costume explaining what life would have been like in the settlement.
The gift shop is large with two
distinct areas. One part focusing on adults and the other for
children with a variety of interesting things for sale. There's
also a cafe on the premises. Plenty of parking space, benches for
relaxing and picnic tables.
If you're in the area, this is a great
place to visit.
Thanks for checking things out...
See you tomorrow...
