CHALLENGING DAYS AHEAD

Well, my weekend plans were rudely interrupted by what can best be explained as a trip through the looking glass.

The Muslin ban put in place with an unvetted executive order created nothing short of chaos not to mention a possible Constitutional Crisis.

It was interesting to find out that not only was the order unvetted by the Justice Department, or other lawyers, but the news reports confirm that Trump's top cabinet choices were unaware of what was exactly in the order, not to mention, once again, neither were the congressional leaders.

Trump, of course, fired the Acting Attorney General because she did not believe the order was legal and would not defend it.

Several federal judges put temporary stays on parts of the order, but the people in charge at some of the various airports did not comply. Also, at some airports they would not let detainees see their lawyers.

Like I said, chaos. The resulting demonstrations were further evidence to me that this is a completely different political situation than we have ever encountered.

All this commotion was going on I think to take our eye off another dramatic order by Trump. He put Bannon in place on the National Security Council while at the same time instructing that the Director of National Intelligence and the Joint Chiefs Chair only attend the NSC meetings by invitation.

By the way, if you do not know who Bannon is, please google and you will see why there is so much concern.

Hello...is anyone listening to this?

So, what can be done? Well, there's a lot of things we can do from donating to organizations that are fighting this administration like ACLU or organizations that are helping folks like Planned Parenthood.

Have you checked out the 'Indivisible' site. Download the document (about 23 pages) for great political information. You can find out a local group to be a part of.

Check out your local Democratic Party Headquarters and volunteer to help candidates. Or, become a candidate yourself.

Call and/or email your senators and representatives. Some Republican legislators have turned off their phones or not emptied their voicemail or email boxes

If their voicemail or email boxes are full, then begin calling your state representatives, or even your local representatives. If they say there is nothing they can do ask them to relay your message to the party headquarters. If enough people continue calling like this, it will be noticed

Above all, keep the faith.  Stay involved. And remember Martin Luther King's statement that the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice.

Thanks for stopping by...
Talk to you tomorrow...
