Well, Saturday was spent at the Empire Guild Meeting. Unfortunately, I missed it last month (remember moving and illness). So this was the last month that things for the Holiday Charity could be donated. We moved it from December to November...there just wasn't enough time to assemble and purchase any additional items.
So this pile represents about 175 stockings, drawstring bags and back sacks...
This pile represents 130 combinations of hats and gloves or hats and scarves, etc...
And finally this pile represents about 60 stuffies (lots more coming), 85 toiletry bags, 38 toothbrushes, 50 boxes of colors and colored pencils (lots more coming), 50 coloring/activity books (lots more coming), 110 toys, 100 pieces of jewelry, and a ton of other things...
I brought all of these things home in about 16 large garbage bags Saturday evening and it took me most of Sunday to sort through everything. More is coming and I have ordered more things like notebooks, pens, more toothbrushes and toothpaste and toys from the money donated to fill up the stockings and bags.
After last year's rush to get things ready to donate, it will be nice to have enough time to make sure than everyone receives a nicely filled bag.
So that's what my weekend was like. Hope your's was as productive even if you only took advantage of some downtime.
Remember this is Veteran's Day. Many, many folks gave their lives to insure our freedom. Let's be sure that we keep it.
