I took this picture in Maine from one of the islands.  If I remember right I took it shortly before the heavens opened and poured down buckets of rain.  Got soaked before I reached the car...Lady J.

Our start time for house hunting was delayed until right after noon so I decided to post my blog early.  Tuesday's focus is on nature and I thought of recycling and growing plants.   So today's post is about growing things in recycled plastic containers.  If you google this topic, the imagination and innovation that some folks have is great.  I have included some of my favorite sites in this post so check them out.

These are cute little containers in which you can use with small plants.  One trick I like here is to smooth off the edges of cut plastic bottles with an iron on low temperature...but don't use your good iron, use an old one

This uses large water bottles with the bottom for planting and the top is used as a small greenhouse.

I included these pictures to show the different ways bottles can be used.  Laying the bottles down and cutting a hole in the side was interesting.  You could get lost looking at all the pictures.

This shows how to use the top of the bottle on the bottom as a ways to keep the plant watered, something that many of the sites used.

A plant stand out of recycled plastic bottles...who would have thought!

This person grows a ton of plants in recycled plastic bottles...did you notice at the beginning that there was a tire on the wall painted pink with plants growing in it?

Two things from this site.  He used fabric to get water to the plants and a wood burner tool to punch holes in the plastic.

This person used the wood burner tool to cut the plastic as well as poke holes.  I like the results including adding a water catcher at the end.

And in this final site, more than plastic bottles are used for planting - from cans to paper towel roles!

I even saw a greenhouse made out of tons of plastic bottles!  Recycling is good for the environment, so enjoy trying out some of these ideas.

Fingers crossed that we will find a house...

Talk with you tomorrow...
