May 31, 2023. A New To Me Scrapbooking Idea

The last day of May.  It's time to drink my morning tea outside on the patio and enjoy nature.  Listening to the leaves move with the breeze and the birds welcoming the morning with song.

In case I didn't note it earlier, I have finished rearranging the kitchen.  I still have to look through a couple more boxes for a few things I would like to have but, basically, it's done.

Next I am going to unpack the boxes of books and put them on the shelves in the living room.

I am also working on organizing the boxes in my old bedroom.  With all the fabric boxes gone, there's a lot more room.

Today I want to share something I learned yesterday.  Several Scrapbooking YouTubers have posted this journal element, but I have never seen it before.  It's basically, pockets made by weaving paper.

Cut two long strips that will fit in your journals and as many strips to weave.  They can be equal size or different but make sure they are long enough to weave.  I usually make both strips a bit longer.

Along with the strips, you want a piece of paper behind the weaving.  It will not show so any scrap paper will do.  I also cut this piece larger.

The other thing I use is a bit of glue and a sewing machine.

Begin by placing the first long strip on the backing paper.  Place a small
dot of glue at the bottom of the strip and on the outer side of the strip about halfway up where the first strip would be placed.

Next place the first horizontal strip adding a tiny dot of glue on both sides and bottom.

Now, place the second vertical strip on top next to the first vertical strip adding a tiny dot of glue at the bottom and on the horizontal strip.

Continue weaving the paper adding tiny dots on the outer sides.  The glue is only used to secure the weaving until it is sewn together.  If you are not going to sew around the edges, you can glue the outer edges securely to the backing paper.

When finished, trim as shown.

Then sew around the edges.

You can place tags, cards, etc in all the of the open pockets.  You can then add it to a page in your journal.  It really is fun to make and use.  Give it a try.

That's all for today...

Talk with you tomorrow...
