I am getting the to-do list I created of things I need to get done before leaving next Monday for the west mostly done. I have now created a list of things to pack.
Do you make lists? Making lists helps me to tackle large tasks easier. Remember the sidebar a couple weeks ago talking about a big summer project and creating a list of things to do to complete it, then distributing that list throughout the summer. That made a very large project easier to approach because it consisted of smaller steps.
So why do we make lists? Well, they do help us remember what to do or what to purchase, say, at the grocery store.
But lists also help to decrease anxiety about our life and what we may perceive as the chaos that surrounds us. When the children were small, some days really did dissolve into chaos.
Another reason we may make lists is because our brain really loves structure. And lists give a great deal of structure. But only if you follow through and work the lists.
Lists also give us a plan and that may make it easier for us to go through our day in a productive manner.
So, again, do you make lists? I make special lists like the ones getting ready for my trip as well as my daily to-do list. One of the nicest benefits of list making is being able to strike off something on the list when it is done. It gives a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction and that is another excellent reason to make lists. A positive feeling!
As in most things, live your life according to you, not your lists. I do know two folks who are so fixated about their lists that if they don't finish them, they fall apart. Remember, you make the lists and you can change the lists. So use lists, don't let lists use you!
That's it for now...
Talk with you tomorrow...
