Well, yesterday, Monday, SnowWhite was purring along without a hitch. This morning, what a difference a few hours make.
I took off but the first thing I noticed was that the fuel economy was erratic. Sometimes it would go down about the right amount for travel time and then it would lose 15 miles in a minute.
Then the 'check fuel inlet' warning came on. Okay, what does that mean? After looking it up, I decided to find a Ford Dealership near me. And, of course, I choose the busiest one around. (On the plus side, that much service indicates great work.).
The queue line was long but the service area is large, clean and well run. I think because I was vacationing, they moved SnowWhite up in the queue. So after waiting at the dealership for five hours, they discovered that the inlet line (where the gas is put in) was the problem and therefore the vapor lock was not secure. At around $650.00, not too bad for a fix. Most of the time my vacation fixes have been in the thousands!!
They ordered a new one which will be in tomorrow, shuttled me to a hotel (they will pick me up) and said they would call when SnowWhite was done.
Unfortunately, the only fast food around is not one I like, but there are vending machines and a good coffee maker in the room, so I will survive. Of course, this puts arriving off by a couple days but life goes on.
