Another beautiful morning today. Cool (54 degrees) and bright...perfect to enjoy a cup of coffee on the newly cleaned patio.
After trying a one-cup regular coffee maker and a one-cup pod coffee maker without success, I finally bought an inexpensive 12 cup coffee maker and made my first cup (of good coffee) this morning to enjoy on the patio! It was definitely a good decision!
BOOK SUGGESTIONS: On the drive home I listened to a short series by Patterson called 'NYPD Red'. It's about a police unit that specializes in taking care of the rich and well-connected folks including those in politics. The two lead detectives, one male and one female, are almost polar opposites but they get the job done eventually. It's like other Patterson books, fast paced, page turners and entertaining. There are five books in the series thus far.
Yesterday I began listening to another series, The Chief Inspector Gamache Series by Louise Penny which is based in Canada. It is very different from the Patterson books as The Chief Inspector Gamache books move seemingly slower. However, when the mystery is finally solved, I realized that all of the what I thought was extraneous material was important to the solution. There are eighteen books in this series and I am looking forward to reading all of them.
ON THE POLITICAL FRONT: I was expecting the latest Trump indictment to come down this week but not last night. I guess I figured that if it wasn't released in the afternoon then it would be Thursday at the earliest.
All I can say is that it is about time. Our democracy is teetering on an edge due to the actions of one person and those in power who support him. It is hard for me to comprehend all the folks who are not in power who still support him but I do understand that they been told less than truthful stories so often both by those in power and the media they watch that they truly believe those stories.
I hope that the trial of these indictments is televised so everyone has a chance to see the how our democracy was attacked. Trump has the presumption of innocence and I hope that he is able to find excellent lawyers to defend him. I know that no matter what the outcome of the trial is, the hard-core supporters will not believe nor change their minds, but I hope that some folks will see and understand the peril our democracy was in.
That's all for today...
Talk with you tomorrow...
