September 11, 2023 Pages for the Small Journal

Remember...

A beautiful plant at the right!  It's the castor plant!  How many of you remember taking castor oil when you were a child?  All I remember is how bad it tasted!

So the electricity was off for almost two days.  Our landlord did have a small generator which allowed us to have a few lights, fans, one small ac unit and refrigerator on.  But because we thought that things would be taken care of any minute we didn't get it on for about fifteen miserable hours.

It was hot and humid and dark.  The only thing that made things a bit better was the small power station I have (used it when traveling with Duchess) which allowed me to use my phone, laptop and iPad.

Saturday, we went to the craft festival held at the Shaker Heritage Village in Albany.  Boy, were there lots of folks attending...two parking lots with another overflow parking lot.  It was nice, mostly cloudy but humid.

The vendors were excellent.  I like to watch how craft fairs change and this year I saw a lot more vendors with fabric items than I have seen in a couple years.  What was really nice is that all the vendors sold items they made...not purchased.

We purchased a lot of maple syrup and candied nut items.  I usually go to craft fairs to get ideas.  One thing I do not do is take pictures of items.  I think that is unfair to the vendors.  However, I did get several ideas which I am going to explore this week to see how easy and expensive it is to get the few items I need.

Today I have a dental appointment.  If there is anything I am really uncomfortable about it is going to the dentist.  This visit is only to take care of two small cavities.  Future visits are for larger problems!

Here's another doodle...if you need to relax, doodling is a great way!  I think it's the repetitive actions...

So I did manage to work on the pages for the small journal.  For the corner tuck, I made a journal tag with a foldout in back.  I used one of the tiny clusters I made several days ago to decorate the front.  I also added a pulltag made out of card stock...

Here's what the back looks like...

Here it is in it's corner tuck...

For the side tuck pocket, I made a folded journal.  To decorate the front I added several items, one at a time.  I added a pull tag on this journal card also.  Check out the progression in the following photos...

You will notice that I do use a lot of torn pieces and I like to ink the edges.  You do not have to either tear or ink if you prefer not.  Here's a picture of the pull tag before attaching to the journal tag...

Fold in half, ink the edges and glue the entire back and then apply to the edge of the journal card.

And here it is in it's side tuck...

I used a notebook in one of the pockets.  Notice I added another small cluster which I made a while back...

On the other pocket, I added another small pocket to the front of the pocket and then put two journal cards, one in each...

That's it for today...

Talk with you tomorrow...
