September 8, 2023 Life Happens Irregardless of Other Plans!

Well, this is interesting.  We had a fairly strong storm last night which resulted in losing our electricity...along with 20 to 30 thousand other folks. And after a miserable night, we are still without electricity.  

I was planning on working on my journal yesterday evening but without lights, it proved to be very difficult.  

One good thing...I always keep my electronics fully charged and I have a small portable power station with which I can charge my iPhone, iPad and Laptop.  And all that meant that I could watch the football game.  

The Lions and Chiefs at the KC home stadium...and the Lions won!  The Chiefs were missing some valuable players but still...the Lions won which is not a normal experience! 

Checking the outage map, it looks like we are in an area with fewer folks so we will probably be among the last to be fixed.  And, of course, it is hot although the storm did cool things off a bit...it made the humidity higher though.

Isn't it interesting how dependent we are on electricity.  We take it for granted so much that when we don't have it we're kind of at a loss as to how to handle things.  

I've not paid attention to the house these past several weeks and it shows.  Not only did it need a deep cleaning, but also some rearranging and lots of organization. 

Although it is hot now, soon the heat will be on...we have hot water radiators...and I wanted to move the upholstered chairs away from the radiators and replace with the simple wooden chairs like the rocking chair in the same place.  

I also brought up some things from the lower level like the fernery for plants and flowers.  I did finish all the cleaning, rearranging and organizing including packing away the spring/summer decorations, but I was too tired to put up the fall decorations. 

Today, after a morning appointment, I hope to put up the fall decorations.  At least it will be light enough to see things.  After that...well, I'll have to play it by ear!!!
